Good morning people. The subject of my blog today is type 2diabetes. As I write this article the number of people worldwide with this debilitating disease is 700 million and growing with each passing day. In fact if type 2diabetes was a Country it would have the third largest population in the world. Scientific research has concluded that whilst genetics can play a part in your being prone to this disease; the actual genetic factor is some 30%. The main cause of type 2diabetes is the result of making poor lifestyle choices. That is if you are obese or even overweight as a result of not exercising as well as eating highly processed foods and beverages high in saturated fat and sugar your risk factor is 70%. So what is to be done? Avoid processed foods as much as possible. Stop drinking carbonated drinks which can contain as much as seventeen spoonfuls of sugar, even most so called healthy alternatives such as fruit juices are high in sugar (fructose). Cheers friends.
