Hullo again to my readers. Today I want to talk about aerobic exercise. As you know from my previous blogs I have artificial knees. They have allowed me to exercise again and so lose weight as well as gaining in fitness and health. There are some drawbacks though; I can no longer kneel nor am I able to run or jog. The good news is I can still walk.
A number of studies have been carried out both at Berkley University in thy United States and more recently at Sydney University in Australia. Both studies concluded that by walking for two and a half hours every day Males had a twenty two % reduction in risk of developing heart disease. I have two problems with this research. In the first instance the studies were conducted on Males only and to the best of my knowledge they did not take into account other lifestyle factors such as Diet. Apart from most of you saying “how can I find 2 ½ hours a day” I doubt that many would make that sort of commitment. I encourage all of you to run/jog/walk for thirty minutes to an hour each day. There are proven benefits from exercising for a minimum of thirty minutes a day. So just go with ½ to an hour each day.
